The majority of students complete the PE requirement for graduation prior to the beginning of the second year in high school. Beginning Summer 2019, students may take PE online through VirtualSC during the summer after 8th grade to meet the PE requirement. Students are still responsible for completing a separate health requirement if they take PE online.
NOTE: COMPREHENSIVE HEALTH EDUCATION REQUIREMENT
Successful completion of PE 1 Personal Fitness or Junior ROTC allows students to satisfy the mandatory Comprehensive Health Education Requirements to graduate. Those requirements include: instruction in the study of growth and development; community, consumer and environmental health; nutrition, personal, mental and dental health; prevention and control of disease; and safety; accident and substance abuse prevention. Students also receive a minimum of 750 minutes of instruction in reproductive health and pregnancy prevention.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION COURSES THAT SATISFY PERSONAL & LIFETIME FITNESS REQUIREMENTS
NOTE: All students must pass Personal Fitness and Lifetime Fitness in order to graduate. Students may substitute one year of ROTC to satisfy this requirement.
NOTE: Students may earn up to 4 units in physical education courses. Students may not earn more than 1 unit for courses with the same activity code (first 4 numbers of the course code).
