This course is designed to train college-bound students in the art of public speaking and interpersonal communication. Students should have above average verbal, reading, research, and composition skills. Various speech techniques, including appropriate subject matter, delivery of speeches, and preparation for public arenas will be emphasized throughout the semester. Students will deliver speeches, all of which will be evaluated upon appropriateness, effectiveness, clarity, and self-confidence. Social skills will also be addressed and emphasized. Students must be independent workers and have a working knowledge of current events both nationally and worldwide. NOTE: If you are planning to go to a college or university program upon graduation, it is highly recommended that you take this speech course.
